Quarantine system for dogs and cats

dogsRabies is a viral disease that can be contracted by humans and many animals. Once the disease develops, it is fatal in almost 100% of cases. There have been no confirmed cases of rabies in Japan in the half-century since 1957, but cases have been reported in other countries and an estimated 40,000-70,000 people die of the disease every year (WHO statistics).
The growing popularity of pets in recent years has led to a rapid increase in imports of puppies from Southeast Asian countries where rabies outbreaks are still common, increasing the risk of rabies occurrence in Japan. For this reason, we have undertaken a drastic reevaluation of our quarantine system for dogs and other animals, basing our new system on the quarantine systems of England and other countries and the latest scientific diagnostic knowledge.
