2nd INWEPF Task Force Meeting for 6th World Water Forum --Information about the result--  

2nd INWEPF Task Force Meeting for 6th World Water Forum (WWF6) was held in Bangkok, Thailand on 4th August 2011.

At this meeting, task force members composed of Malaysia, Korea, Myanmar, Thailand and Japan discussed how INWEPF could contribute to WWF6. This task force was formulated in order to accelerate the preparation of WWF6 at the INWEPF 7th steering meeting in October 2010, which was held in Jeju, Korea.

 

Agenda

1) Information related with 6th World Water Forum (WWF6) and 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit (APWS2)

2) Basic concept of INWEPF’s input for APWS2 and WWF6

3) Outline of presentation document for APWS/WWF6

4) Schedule for APWS/WWF6 of Working Group (WG)

5) INWEPF workshop in APWS2

6) INWEPF next activities for post-WWF6

 

The results of 2nd INWEPF Task Force Meeting

1. How to participate in WWF6

  • So as to reflect “Regional process” in WWF6, INWEPF will make presentations of our activities and release a message from INWEPF at APWS2.

 

  • At the “Thematic process” in WWF6, INWEPF will try to seek the possibility of INWEPF's presentation at the section of”2.2 Contribute to Food Security by optimal use of water” coordinated by FAO and “3.1 Improve the quality of water resources and ecosystem” coordinated by Wetlands International
  • As side event, INWEPF will set own booth and present INWEPF’s activities with handouts and panels. INWEPF will consider holding INWEPF workshop utilizing the space around booth.

  

2. Message from INWEPF to APWS2 and WWF6

  • INWEPF task force members will make first draft message by the end of this August after exchanging opinions.  

 

3. Presentation documents for APWS2/WWF6 from each WG

  • Each working group will make the presentation documents before the 8th INWEPF steering meeting which will be held in this November in Penang Island, Malaysia.

 

4.  Operation for APWS2

  • At the INWEPF morning session on 4th February 2012, two keynote speeches will be presented under the theme of ”Best Practice Related to Water-Ecosystem-Paddy Fields ”and INWEPF will release message to APWS2 after making presentation of INWEPF’s activities.
  • At the INWEPF evening session on 4th February 2012, INWEPF will hold small meeting with task force members.

 

5. INWEPF next activities for post-WWF6

  • Each WG’s lead country will consider about next activities for post-WWF6 by the end of this August so as to be set for one agenda at the 8th INWEPF steering meeting which will be held in this November in Penang Island, Malaysia.
