Characteristics

MISHIMA BAREISHO has a beautiful skin surface and sweetness. It also has a high storage stability due to its air‐drying and storing methods addition to strict quality control. The quality is highly evaluated in the market and traded at about 20%‐50% higher unit price than same variety potatoes from other production areas.

Link with the local area

South‐facing slopes in Hakone Seiroku area excels in its breathability and water retentivity, which are perfect naturalsoil conditions for producing potatoes. Large harvesters cannot be used in this areas due to the slopes, farmers have to dig the potatoes by hand. This seemingly disadvantageous production condition helps producing beautiful skin surface of potatoes.
