Characteristics

TOKACHI KAWANISHI NAGAIMO is short and bottle‐shaped. The outer appearance as well as inside of the yam is white and does not easily turn brown. It has a nice crunchy texture and becomes very sticky when grated. It has been frequently exported to overseas and receiving high acclaim.

Link with the local area

It is grown in thick layers of unique humic black soils suitable for the yam production. The characteristics of the yam has been preserved through the management of isolated culture of high‐grade seeds, as well as selections and cultivations of disease‐free breeds.
