Characteristics

Tajima cattle is a bred in mountain valleys in Tajima area, northern part of Hyogo Prefecture. The quality of Tajima cattle has been improved from generation to generation. As a result, this tender beef is rated as the finest marbled beef.

Link with the local area

Tajima beef comes from draft cattle which were used for farming from 1200 years ago in Tajima region, northern side of Hyogo Prefecture. This breed was recognized as good quality beef in the Meiji era. Since then, the cattle has been continuously improved many times over the years with  rigid selections of breeds from same prefecture, and became high-quality beef.
