Lifting of import controls in response to the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station of Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) in Canada(June 13)


On June 13, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced that CFIA lifted enhanced import controls on all food and animal feed products from Japan and moved back towards normal control measures taken before the Great East Japan Earthquake. The measure were implemented from the same day.

After the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, in response to the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station of TEPCO, Canada requested certifications on radioactive substances, production site and production date on food and animal feed products exported from Japan. On June 13, Canada lifted all the import controls and moved back towards normal control measures taken before the Great East Japan Earthquake.
