In relation to the accident occurred at the nuclear plant in Fukushima Prefecture, relevant prefectural governments have been inspecting radioactive materials in food, including livestock products. This data sheet is a compilation of individual test results shown in the corresponding press releases (in Japanese), by prefectural governments, available at the website of each prefecture or Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW). The distribution of raw milk produced in Fukushima and Ibaraki Prefectures exceeding the provisional regulation value were restricted. However, since the safety of raw milk was comfirmed, the restrictions were cancelled in whole area of Ibaraki and some areas of Fukushima. Hence, raw milk exceeding the provisional regulation value will not be distributed in the domestic market nor will it be shipped for export. In addition, no samples of raw milk, including those from the restricted area, have detected the levels over the regulation values set by the Government of Japan and/or Codex after March 23, as of April 20. |

New standard limits for radioactive cesium
New standard limits for radioactive cesium in foods are enforced as of April 1, 2012. Trasitional measures are set for some comodities (rice, beef, soybeen) which needs a certain period of preparation to prevent any confusion in distributionat the time of shift to new standard limits.
