The producing area is hilly with scattered small hills. The mild climate, with a mean temperature of 27°C, and the well-drained soil, containing sediments and sand washed down from higher lands are suitable for pineapple production. Cultivation is carried out using only plants that originated from Smooth Cayenne pineapple brought into the producing area in the 1970s.
