Focal Point on Food Science in Japan

In December 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) responded to inquiries about Washoku (Japanese cuisine) and food science in Japan by Nature Research Custom Media for Focal Point Food Science in Japan, which ran in Nature, a weekly international journal.
Washoku was listed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2013. MAFF gives priority to preserving and handing down Washoku to future generations, but also to creating new value through novel ways of utilizing food both in Japan and abroad, based on the international attention our food culture has gained.

Sustainable Nutrition

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) responded to an interview by Nature Research Custom Media for the sponsor feature of Nature Outlook Sustainable Nutrition published in Nature (Vol. 588, No. 7837).
MAFF has plans to propose healthier and more sustainable dietary habits by promoting traditional local diets based on local production for local consumption.
