Characteristics

The organization's efforts are highly regarded both domestically and internationally, as DoiTung Coffee is a Thai royal family initiative, is registered as a Thai GI product, and is certified by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for its contribution to the eradication of drugs. DoiTung Coffee is sold in the Thai market at a price 2 to 2.5 times higher than that of the same type of common coffee.

Link with the Production Area

The production area is relatively high in altitude and the climate is suitable for growing the Arabica variety of coffee bean. As part of the DoiTung development project led by the Thai royal family, the local people who used to grow poppies for a living were supported to grow coffee as an alternative crop, and DoiTung Coffee has become established in the region as a crop that has turned around the lives of the people and the natural environment.
