Characteristics

Oita Kabosu is a citrus harvested during green period as it is the most flavorful time. Oita Kabosu is characterized by its refreshing aroma and mild sourness. It is used in variety of dishes to season as it brings out the flavor of main dishes.

Link with the Production Area

Kabosu has been cultivated in Oita Prefecture from the late Edo Period (1603-1867), and it was initially used for medical purposes. Today, Oita Prefecture accounts for more than 90% of Kabosu production in Japan. It is shipped throughout a year with same high quality.
