2. Results

The 5th G7 CVO Forum was held with approximately 60 participants including G7 CVOs, officials of veterinary authorities, representatives of FAO and WOAH.

Following the opening remarks by State Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr. TAKEMURA, the participants shared their experiences and discussed three global issues: prevention and control of transboundary animal diseases such as African swine fever, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and avian influenza.

During the welcome dinner, we showcased the taste and safety of Japanese food products, including Hida beef, Ehime yellowtail fish, Hokkaido scallops, Japanese sake from Tohoku and Plum liqueur, etc.

On the following day, Friday, 22 September, the participants visited Toyosu Market and toured the premises, including the tuna auction, to deepen their understanding of Japanese products and culture.

G7 Health Ministers‘ Meeting in Nagasaki(External link)
At the G7 Health Ministers’ Meeting in Nagasaki, the G7 emphasized the importance of addressing cross-sectoral health issues, including pandemics and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), under the One Health approach. In this context, the “G7 High-Level Technical Meeting on One Health” was held online on October 31. The G7 ministries responsible for human health, animal health and the environment and relevant agencies participated in the meeting to share their efforts and best practices related One Health in the respective countries and region, and endorsed the “G7 Shared Understanding on One Health Approach”, which outlines the G7’s commitment to further promoting the One Health approach.
