The 10th World Water Forum in Indonesia on May 18-25, 2024

The 10th World Water Forum was held in Indonesia from May 18th to 25th in 2024. About 75,000 people from 160 countries participated in it under the theme of “Water for Shared Prosperity”.
INWEPF participated in the forum and;
(1) held the workshops on water use efficiency of paddy agriculture and modernization of irrigation facilities,
(2) coordinated the thematic session T1A2 “Nature-based solutions / ecosystem protection and restoration to improve water supply” with UNESCO, and disseminated the importance of appropriate hybrid/combination of grey (irrigation facilities) and green (the multifunctionality of paddy fields) infrastructure as a key message to the forum,
(3) presented the Japanese irrigation technology using FOEAS and ICT at the thematic session T1C3 “Revitalization of existing irrigated areas to be water-wise and climate smart” coordinated by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO),
(4) displayed posters and distributed pamphlets and Japanese rice crackers to introduce INWEPF activities at the exhibition booth in the Japanese pavilion.

The 7th World Water Forum in Korea on April 12-17th, 2015

The 7th World Water Forum in Daegu and Gyeongbuk was held in Korea from April 12th to 17th in 2015. About 41,000 people from 168 countries participated in it under the theme of “Water for Our Future”.
INWEPF participated in the workshop in the Theme Process session 2.1.5 which was organized by Global Water Initiative(GWI) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) and made booth in Japanese pavilion in order to introduce INWEPF activity.

The 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Thailand on May 16-21th, 2013

2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand on May 16-21.

APWS is an international conference which is hosted by Asia-Pacific Water Forum (chairperson: Mr. Yoshiro Mori, former Prime Minister of Japan).

The representatives of countries and international organizations in Asia-Pacific region discussed several water related problems with broader perspectives in this summit.

Main theme: “Water Security and Water-related Disaster Challenges: Leadership and Commitment”

There were 4 events;

(1) Leaders Forum: participation of ministerial levels from 50 Asia-Pacific countries and areas

(2) Focus Area Sessions: comprised by seven sub-themes

(3) Technical Workshops: technical workshops on seven sub-themes

(4) Exhibitions and Open Events: presentation of exhibitions and posters

 Japan participated in Technical Workshop, Focus Area Sessions, and Exhibitions introduced INWEPF activities.

The 6th World Water Forum in France on March 12-17th, 2012

The 6th World Water Forum in Marseilles was held in France from March 12th to 17th in 2012. About 35,000 people from about 170 countries participated in it under the theme of “Time for Solution”.

INWEPF participated in the Asia Pacific Region's session 2.1 which was organized by FAO and ESCAP, held the workshop with ICID Japanese national committee and made booth in Japanese pavilion in order to introduce INWEPF activitie. 

The 5th World Water Forum in Turkey on March 16-22nd, 2009

The 5th World Water Forum in Istanbul was held in Istanbul, Turkey from March 16th to 22nd in 2009. About 30,000 people from about 192 countries participated in it under the theme of gBridging Divides for Water h.

The 1st Asia-Pacific Water Summit and related events in Japan on December 3-4th, 2007

The first Asia - Pacific Water Summit (APWS1) was held in Oita Prefecture, Japan, on December 3 and 4, 2007. Under the overall theme "Water Security: Leadership and Commitment", almost 300 people participated in the summit; representatives of 36 countries including heads of government of 10 countries, international organizations and representatives of stakeholders such as parliaments, local governments, private sectors, academics, civil societies and media in Asia-Pacific region.

Message from the INWEPF to the First Asia-Pacific Water Summit(PDF : 39KB)

The 4th World Water Forum in Mexico on March 16-22nd, 2006

The 4th World Water Forum convened in Mexico City, Mexico from March 16th to 22nd, 2006. The 4th Forum's main theme, "Local actions for a global challenge," was addressed through five framework themes: water for growth and development; implementing integrated water resources management (IWRM); water supply and sanitation for all; water management for food and the environment; and risk management. Over 150 thematic sessions were held, and almost 19,000 participants attended, representing governments, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academia, and so on.
INWEPF and the Asia regional working group of ICID held the joint session entitled, "Sustainable paddy water use and its multifunctionality with better governance". This session is located in "Water Management for Food and the Environment" of the five themes of WWF4 and cross cutting issue" Application of Science, Technology and Knowledge".
In addition to the session, exhibition booth of INWEPF was placed in the World Water Expo, one of side event of WWF4.
-At the INWEPF booth, multi-functionality of paddy agriculture in the Asia monsoon region was introduced with displaying panels, showing slides and distributing brochures to show INWEPF and its activity to the visitors from all over the world.

The FAO-Netherlands conference "Water for Food and Ecosystems"

FAO and Netherlands organize an international conference, "Water for Food and Ecosystems", from February 1 to 5, 2005 in Hague. The INWEPF will have a special session on February 1 at the conference to disseminate its message to the world.
