The First ASEAN-Japan Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry Meeting (AJMAF) (October 4, 2023, Malaysia)
1. Overview
The first ASEAN-Japan Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry Meeting (AJMAF) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday, October 4, with Minister Miyashita co-chairing the meeting with Datuk Seri Mohamad Bin Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, as this year marks the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan friendship and cooperation.
The “ASEAN-Japan MIDORI Cooperation Plan”, proposed by Japan, was adopted at the meeting, with many countries expressing support for the plan.

2. ASEAN-Japan MIDORI Cooperation Plan
“The ASEAN-Japan MIDORI Cooperation Plan,” adopted at the first ASEAN-Japan Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry Meeting (AJMAF) on October 4, 2023, aims to foster cooperation projects with ASEAN countries by utilizing Japanese technology and sharing experience to build resilient and sustainable agriculture and food systems in the ASEAN region and, ultimately, to contribute to food security in the region.
