1. About G7 Niigata Agriculture Ministers' Meeting
The G7 Niigata Agriculture Ministers' Meeting hold on 23-24 April, as one of the related Ministerial meetings of G7 Ise-Shima Summit, being held on 26-27 May, 2016 in Japan. This is the first time in seven years since the first Agriculture Ministers' Meeting was held in L'Aquila, Italy in 2009, as G7-G8 members.

3. Venue and Participants
Meeting Venue: Toki Messe, Niigata Convention Center, Niigata City, Japan
Participants: G7 members (Japan(Chair), Canada, France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, United States of America and EU), and select international organizations (The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)).
4. Content for Discussion
(1) Identifying the challenges that the G7 members have faced in common in agricultural sector
・Increasing the average age of farmers and the fact that community-based activities are at risk of deterioration
・Increasing demand for a safe, nutritious and varied food supply
・Extreme weather due to climate change
(2) Concrete actions to overcome these challenges
・Expanding farming opportunities such as enhancing farmers' capacity-building and participation in food value chains (FVCs)
・Promoting active participation of women and youth in agriculture and food systems
・Revitalizing rural communities as well as using resources in rural areas such as land, water, and food culture in a sustainable manner
・Combatting Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), animal and plant diseases, and biological threats
・Promoting R&D and technologies for increasing agrucultural production/productivity and food supply capacity as well as for addressing climate change
・Sustainable management of forest and fisheries resources
5. Results
G7 members adopted the 'G7 Niigata Agriculture Ministers' Meeting Declaration' as a result of the meeting

(1) Introduction of agricultural technologies in Japan
Exhibition booths was set up in Toki Messe to promote and appeal to the world by introducing advanced technologies and local produce

(2) Hospitality about food
Food ingredients from Niigata and 3 prefectures that were hugely affected by the great east Japan earthquake served at Welcome Reception and Ministerial dinner
