Japanese Companies and Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, and Others Signed Memorandum of Understanding for Agricultural Cooperation (February. 19, 2024)

   On February 19, 2024, the Japan-Ukraine Conference for Economic Growth and Reconstruction convened at Keidanren Kaikan (Japan Business Federation Hall). The prime ministers of Japan and Ukraine attended the conference. Eight major memoranda of understanding (MOUs) were signed between six prominent Japanese companies, including agricultural machinery manufacturers, and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as well as some Ukrainian companies and a university.

1．Overview

   The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) has been working closely with Ukrainian partners to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between Japanese companies and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food (MAPF) of Ukraine. MAFF will continue to support all initiatives by the companies involved in the MOUs and potential companies willing to cooperate by making use of the Japan-Ukraine Joint Task Force on Agricultural Recovery Strategy, which was launched in November last year, and by making the best use of the fiscal 2023 supplementary budget entitled "The Project to Support the Recovery of Agricultural Productivity in Ukraine".
