Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Takahashi’s Visit to Qatar and the UAE(Jan. 13-Jan. 16, 2024)

Mr. Takahashi, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, made an official visit to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates from January 13 to January 16. Mr. Takahashi attended the Japan Day at the International Horticultural Exhibition EXPO 2023 Doha Qatar, and in the UAE, he met with H.E Mr. Mohammed Saeed Sultan Al Nuaimi, Under-secretary, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the UAE. He also exchanged views with business operators handling Japanese agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food
in both countries.

Visit to Qatar

Vice-Minister Takahashi attended the Japan Day at the International Horticultural Exhibition EXPO 2023 Doha Qatar to introduce Japan‘s flowers and plants and its culture, as well as to encourage participation and visits to GREEN×EXPO 2027, which will be held in Yokohama in 2027. He also attended a meeting to exchange views with business operators dealing with Japanese food products and discussed challenges to be addressed in boosting exports of Japanese agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food from Japan.

Visit to the UAE

Vice-Minister Takahashi met with H.E Mr. Mohammed Saeed Sultan Al Nuaimi, Under-secretary, Ministry of
Climate Change and Environment, the UAE. Both affirmed that Japan and the UAE would drive early cooperation in agriculture and fisheries under the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of Japan and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE. Mr. Takahashi also explained Japan’s efforts to expand exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food.

Vice-Minister Takahashi attended a meeting with business operators handling Japanese agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food to share opinions. He also visited a Japanese chef who runs a Japanese restaurant and
a Japanese company’s warehouse, where he learned about the challenges they face in furthering exports of Japanese agriculture, forestry and fishery products and food.
