Goma-gohan (Sesami seeds Rice) | Our Regional Cuisines

RECIPE
Ingredients (6 servings)
- Glutinous rice 3 cup
- Black sesame 30 g
- Sugar 40 g
- Sweetened Edamame (green soybeans) or Chestnuts As needed
- Soy sauce 2 1/2 tbsp.
- [For sprinkling] Water 250 ml
How to cook

1. Wash glutinous rice and soak in water the night before. The next morning, drain the rice in a colander.

2. Roast black sesame seeds and grind roughly in a mortar.

3. For sprinkling, mix 250 ml of water with sugar and soy sauce.

4. Place a steaming cloth moistened with water in a boiling steamer, add rice from step 1, and steam over high heat for 20 minutes.

5. Put the steamed rice into a bowl, add sesame seeds from step 2, and mix well with the water from step 3.

6. Steam for another 15 minutes.

7. Once steamed, remove from the oven onto the tray, fan to make it shiny, and sprinkle with sweetened edamame or chestnuts.
