MAFF  Side Event

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) has been developing the business environments for food-related companies that contribute to nutritional improvements in developing countries, and supporting various efforts by cross-sectional stakeholders in collaboration with the Nutrition Japan Public Private Platform (NJPPP) (a public-private partnership to promote nutrition improvement businesses). At the N4G, the MAFF will host a side event and introduce Japan’s unique knowledge and experience to the world.

(1) Objective

MAFF will hold the side event and introduce Japan’s unique efforts. The event will focus on one of the N4G focus areas, “Food: Building food systems that promote healthy diets and nutrition,” in order to contribute to sustainable development in Japanese agriculture and food industries.

(2) Overview

Recently, food markets in developing and emerging countries have been expanding rapidly and opening great opportunities for Japanese food-related businesses. On the other hand, poverty, hunger and malnutrition are global issues, and Japanese food-related businesses are also expected to contribute to these issues.
At the side event, we will introduce the various efforts by the Government  of Japan and Japanese food industries towards ending malnutrition and provide opportunities to discuss ongoing contributions with various stakeholders in both Japan and abroad. The outcomes will subsequently be shared with stakeholders around the world.
We hope that many stakeholders will make commitments and participate in the side event with us!
