The Procedures for Export Plant Quarantine in Japan

An export inspection is conducted to see whether plants to be exported from Japan satisfy plant quarantine conditions imposed by an export counterpart. (輸出検査は、日本から輸出される植物がこれら輸出相手国の植物検疫の条件に適合しているかどうかについて行います。)

A phytosanitary certificate or an inspection certificate will be issued to plants that have passed this inspection. You need to attach the certificate to plants to be exported.(この輸出検査に合格したものについて、「植物検疫証明書を発給しますので、この証明書を輸出植物に添付し輸出してください。)

Flow of Export Inspection

If you want to apply for export plant inspection, you shall submit an application form of plant export inspection to a plant protection station where an export inspection is to be conducted. (輸出植物の検査申請は、「植物等輸出検査申請書」を輸出検査を受けようとする植物防疫所に提出してください。)
If you have obtained “import permit ” from an exporting counterpart, please attach a copy thereof. (輸出相手国の「輸入許可書」を取得している場合は、コピーを添付してください。)
It may take a long time until an export inspection completes depending on exporting countries, items and plant quarantine conditions of exporting counterparts. We kindly ask you to first contact a plant protection station before you submit an application form so that an inspection will be conducted smoothly by the expected date of export.(輸出国、品目、輸出相手国の植物検疫の条件によっては輸出検査に長時間を要する場合があります。輸出予定日までに円滑に受検できるよう、事前に植物防疫所と相談の上で申請されるようご協力をお願いします。)
Although an export inspection is basically conducted at a plant protection center, it can be conducted at a place of collection of plants to be exported when needed. (輸出検査は基本的に植物防疫所で行いますが、必要があれば輸出植物の集荷地などで行うこともできます。)
