Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS)
JAS are the Japanese national standards established by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in the fields of food, agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
Under the JAS system, it is possible to establish a variety of standards, including (1) Quality/Specifications of Products, (2) Process of Production/Distribution of Products, (3) Methods of Product Handling by Business Operators, (4) Business Managing Methods of Business Operators, (5) Testing Methods of Products, and (6) Vocabulary related to (1)-(5).
When operators obtain JAS certification, it is possible for them to affix the JAS mark with a catch word that clearly identifies the contents of the product.
