Designated regions are following countries or regions, designated as rabies-free by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Japan.
Iceland, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, Guam (as of July, 2013)
Countries or regions changed to OTHER THAN the Designated regions
From January 1, 2012 Ireland, Sweden and United Kingdom(Great Britain & Northern Ireland only)
From January 20, 2012 Norway (except Svalbard, Jan Mayen and dependencies out of Europe)
(*Svalbard, Jan Mayen and dependencies out of Europe were previously other than the designated regions before January 20, 2012.)
From July 25, 2013 (*Applied import requirements have changed from July 17, 2013) Taiwan
Import requirements applied to dogs, cats, foxes, racoons and skunks from above countries or regions has been changed.
