Prudent Use of Veterinary Antimicrobial Medicines
Not only the Japanese government but also the individuals concerned, including veterinarians and producers, need to carry out their responsibilities and make efforts for prudent use (drug use for achieving the maximum therapeutic benefit and minimizing the selection of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria by proper use after giving sufficient consideration to the use of veterinary antimicrobials) to reduce the risk of antimicrobial-resistant strains by usage of veterinary antimicrobial products.
Therefore, MAFF has introduced the basic concept of thorough “responsible prudent use” for the usage of antimicrobials among veterinarians and producers.
