What is AMR
Antimicrobials are important materials to protect the health of food-producing animals and produce safe animal products stably. However, usage of antimicrobials for food-producing animals may lead to the increased survival of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria (by selection of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria) and reduced efficacy of antimicrobials.
Besides, if a antimicrobial-resistant bacteria is transmitted to humans through food products, the efficacy of an antimicrobial used for human treatment may not be sufficient (see the Figure).
