Both Entry into and Departure from Japan - Other Animals
Animal quarantine inspections are not required upon arrival in Japan for frogs (amphibians), snakes (reptiles) and so forth that you bring with you from abroad.
In addition, inspection upon departure from Japan when taking them to other countries is also not required; however, inspection will be necessary if there are conditions for entry in your destination country. Please confirm the existence of such entry requirements at the Embassy(External Link) or with the quarantine authorities of your destination country prior to departure. Since hippopotamuses, giraffes and other even-toed ungulates as well as zebras and other members of the horse family will require a quarantine inspection upon departure from Japan, please refer to the "Domesticated Animals" section.
