Quarantine inspections are required for the import and export of cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, horses, chickens, ducks, pheasant, guinea fowl, turkeys, ostrich, geese, quail and honey bees. Therefore, please be sure to inquire at the nearest Animal Quarantine Station in advance.

You will be able to import these into the country at the following 18 facilities : the ports of Tomakomai, Keihin (Tokyo, Yokohama), Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe, Kanmon, Hakata, Kagoshima and Naha as well as the Shin-Chitose Airport, Shin-Tokyo International Airport, Tokyo International Airport, New Kitakyushu airport, Fukuoka Airport, Kagoshima Airport and Naha Airport.

In addition, quarantine inspections will also be required for cloven-hoofed animals (hippopotamuses, giraffes, etc.) other than cattle, pigs, goats and sheep and for members of the horse family (zebras, etc.) other than horses.
